Speaking of Waver, one of the things I’ve really been enjoying about watching Case Files is watching streams of the Japanese live broadcast and following the reactions on twitter in real time, and the extent to which people went nuts over half-naked dying Waver was really something. She also introduces yet another mystery to the mix – she is clearly a servant, so who is her master? Was she the one that killed Trisha? Those questions will have to wait until Waver gets better. It’s a shame she’s so eager to kill Waver and cause him such emotional pain (obviously, finding out that there’s someone so close to Iskandar that he’d never seen before doesn’t go over well), because I feel like I shouldn’t like her out of sheer principle for that, but she is honestly just really cool and I can’t wait to watch her be cool some more. Anyway, no matter who she is, Heph has a powerful presence and is definitely one of the most eye-catching and commanding characters to be introduced yet. I know there are definitely people who may be surprised or even annoyed that Hephaestion of all people got gender-flipped – given that he’s a guy so close to Alexander the Great that he may have even been his lover – but…well, I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say that if you paid attention to the appearance of the Ionioi Hetairoi at the end of episode one, you may have noticed something – or not noticed something, and that’s all I’ll say. Obviously the biggest thing to happen is the appearance of…well, who says she is Hephaestion. Well, it’s no wonder the Rail Zeppelin arc was apparently so popular, it’s really starting getting exciting now. Adashino do you like…actively try to look shifty as fuck or what
Reines looks simultaneously so grown up and yet so small when at her desk, it’s very cute. ‘fondling a conveniently Iskandar-coloured apple that just happened to be there as he talks about him’ may be the most extra Iskandar-reminiscing scene yet. Unfortunately, despite miraculously surviving, Waver suffered the worst of the hit, sustaining a horrific burn to his back that leaves him incapacitated and in his students’ magical medical care.Īfter Reines is informed of Waver’s current predicament, Melvin somehow finds out about the whole affair and decides it’s finally his time to reenter the story and join the Rail Zeppelin too – he may not have got an invitation properly, but he’s rich enough to buy whatever he wants. Hearing all the commotion, Caules comes to the rescue in time to save Waver and Gray from being blasted off the train by Heph’s attack. When she is barely unsuccessful, she summons a skeletal, terrifying version of Gordeus Wheel…AKA one of Iskandar’s Noble Phantasms…and then introduces herself as Hephaestion, Iskandar’s closest and most trusted confidant. After insulting Waver a lot and questioning how he could ever be worthy of having anything to do with Iskandar, she uses a mystic eye of her own to try to force Gray to kill him. What actually happens is something far more unexpected than they ever could have prepared for – a servant shows up, clad in a very familiar style of garb. Frampton also reveals the reason he is present on the Rail Zeppelin – to get rid of his own mystic eyes, which he believes only ever cause him torment due to the visions they bring.īack in Luvia and Kairi Adventures, the two determine with their relative abilities that the bounded field was not disturbed or broken into prior to the theft of Iskandar’s relic, confirming their belief that it was an inside job, and further giving them their own investigation to conduct.īack on the train, Waver and Gray follow the directions on the letter received previously, hoping to meet its writer and thus the thief themself. He also believes the motive to be to get her mystic eyes, although this can’t be confirmed, as Trisha’s head is unfortunately missing. Waver comes to the conclusion that since Trisha likely couldn’t see her future death incoming either with her own mystic eyes, this means that the culprit either had the ability to bypass mystic eyes or was somehow outside of time.
Frampton denies this and assists with the investigation – however his mystic eyes, despite usually giving him the ability to see the past, are unable to see the moment of Trisha’s death. The investigation of Trisha’s death begins, and Olga-Marie is already suspecting Frampton due to the church’s traditional hatred of magi. It wasnt the best place in the story to fall behind on but now its catch-up time! uh Waver are you really gonna just…stand in the blood… Once again a whole smorgasboard of things coincided at the same time and I had no choice but to delay this a whole lot.
